Atlanta Photographer: Dear Diary
Dear Diary,
It has been raining for 73 days now. I don’t remember what the warmth of sunshine feels like anymore. I fear this is just the way life is now….wet, gray and depressing.
And yet… I soldier on.
An aside: I wrote “soldier” and then wondered if I spelled it right b/c it looked weird (you know how common words suddenly just look wrong?) So to Google I went and I’m so so glad I did. One of the first things I saw was Urban Dictionary’s example of how to use “soldier on” and it’s simply one of the most delightful things I’ve read in awhile:
“To move on into the blistering sandstorm that is life and yet to know that your power in the face of adversity is the only power that can change anything. When the sand skins you alive and the claws of the monsters that are your obstacles near your flesh, you soldier on because you know that past the storm, there is the light of day. Basically, go on no matter what.”
“..the blistering sandstorm that is life…” *happy sigh*
Anyhoo, Diary, it’s not all that bad. As you know (because you’re my diary after all) I’m an extrovert and will wilt and die if I don’t interact with other humans on a daily basis so I have been keeping up with my clients and networking events. My clients and friends and those I’ve met over the years through networking are my ding dang sunshine. (awwww)
What’s most exciting to me now is the prospect of creating a whole new network in a new city. A city where THE SUN SHINES. I mean, the entire state is called “The Sunshine State” so I have high expectations. I will be laying the groundwork for my business in the Sarasota area and will start splitting my time between Atlanta and Florida in a couple of months and I’ll be making trips regularly until then. (see below)
Weird thought: I’ll be an empty-nester soon. Turning 50 next month, single with no kids living with me and the ability to pick up and go anywhere. Amazingly exciting and a bit overwhelming, in a good way.
But for now, I need to get on my boots and drive to meet a client in the rain. A drive that should take 35 minutes but will likely be 75 minutes. SUPER excited about that.
